Mission Statement

Longmeadows Farm will be an example of sustainable stewardship of the land and will demonstrate the balance that is possible between consumption and the environment.  We envision a business that will embrace our traditional family values and the unique culture of all Mainers and exemplify a sustainable livelihood through traditional agricultural.

Vision and Goals

We plan to create a business that will ensure that Longmeadows Farm has a place in the future community for future generations.  The vision of the farm is to provide a diverse set of products ranging from beef, hay and vegetables to value added foods and crafts.  Ultimately our goal is to ensure that the farm stays intact and never becomes divided.  The farm has been in agricultural production since 1786 and our goal is to keep it in agricultural production forever.

Farm Description

Longmeadows Farm is a 200-acre federally recognized historic farmstead located in Benton, Maine.  Most of the farm’s acreage is located within the Unity Wetlands Focus Area because it contains prime wetlands and farmlands.  The farm is about 15 minutes from downtown Fairfield, Winslow and Waterville.  There are currently 31 heirloom-Milking Shorthorns, 7 sheep, 3 pigs, 10 chickens and 2 horses on the farm.  We have over 26 acres of pasture, much of which is intensively managed through rotational grazing.  The farm also contains a 70 acre hay field that provides all the hay needed for our current operation.
